The Tally Mark

How we verify

The Tally Mark exists because of a specific problem: most honeymoon content is written by people who have never set foot in the places they rank, funded by the resorts being ranked. You can’t redo a honeymoon, so the stakes of a bad recommendation are higher than for any other trip.

Our method

1. We collect real reports. For every guide, we gather first-hand accounts from honeymooners in public communities and recent reviews — what they booked, what it cost, what they’d repeat, and what they regretted.

2. We attribute, never impersonate. When we quote a traveler, it is a short excerpt with credit and a link to the original. We synthesize the consensus in our own words; we do not pass anyone’s experience off as our own.

3. We verify what rots. Prices, seasonal closures, room categories, transfer logistics, and entry requirements are checked against primary sources before a guide is published, and re-checked on a refresh calendar.

4. We show our count. Every recommendation carries a consensus tally — how many reports we reviewed and how many recommend. If the research isn’t done, the tally says so instead of showing a number.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you book through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Rankings are set by the consensus research before any affiliate consideration, and we disclose this on every page where it applies. We do not accept payment for placement, and we do not take press trips.

Who runs this

One person. There is no team and no editorial board. Research and drafting are AI-assisted; the sourcing decisions, the exclusions, and the final read are not.

We have not honeymooned in most of the places on this site, and we don’t claim to have. That is the entire reason the method above exists: every guide is built from other people’s attributed reports, and every consensus tally is reproducible from the evidence behind it — each report counted, each source deliberately excluded, and everything we could not verify.
